Removal Procedure
- Remove the LH and RH insulators. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the knee bolster. Refer to
Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges
and Console.
- Remove the floor console, if equipped. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and
Console.
- Disconnect the defroster/vent valve link at the vent valve on
the LH side of the HVAC module.
- Remove the heater outlet
cover retaining screws .
Important: Position the heater outlet cover downward and rearward in order to disconnect
the cover from the rear floor area duct assembly.
- Remove the heater outlet cover.
- Remove the vent valve
(1) from the HVAC module.
Installation Procedure
Important: Align the vent valve into the HVAC module case.
- Install the vent valve (1) into the HVAC module.
- Install the heater outlet
cover.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the heater
outlet cover retaining screws.
Tighten
Tighten the heater outlet cover screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).
- Connect the defroster/vent valve link to the vent valve on the
LH side of the HVAC module.
- Install the floor console, if equipped. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and
Console.
- Install the knee bolster. Refer to
Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges
and Console.
- Install the LH and RH insulators. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
