Inspect the coolant level in the radiator and the reservoir.

Is the coolant level low?

  1. Connect the scan tool.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Select engine cooling temperature (ECT) in Engine Data 2.
  4. Monitor the engine coolant temperature.

Does the coolant temperature increase steadily to the normal operating temperature?

  1. Inspect the hoses for kinks or other obstructions.
  2. Flush or replace the obstructed heater core.
