Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement Impala

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  2. Remove the rear bumper energy absorber. Refer to Rear Energy Absorber Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 513116  Size: SH
  4. Remove the rear bumper impact bar bolts.

  5. Object Number: 513114  Size: SH
  6. Remove the rear bumper impact bar.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 513114  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear bumper impact bar to the body.

  2. Object Number: 513116  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: The lower outboard location is a 4-way net hole locator and must be installed first.

  3. Install the rear bumper impact bar bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear bumper impact bar bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear bumper energy absorber. Refer to Rear Energy Absorber Replacement .
  6. Install the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  2. Remove the rear bumper energy absorber. Refer to Rear Energy Absorber Replacement .

  4. Remove the rear bumper impact bar bolts.

  5. Object Number: 513114  Size: SH
  6. Remove the rear bumper impact bar.
