Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the EGR valve adapter pipe mounting bolt (2) from
the exhaust manifold.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the exhaust gas recirculation
(EGR) valve. Refer to
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Replacement
.
- If applicable remove the secondary air injection (AIR) pump outlet
pipe. Refer to
Secondary Air Injection Pump Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement
.
- Remove the EGR valve outlet pipe. Refer to
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Outlet Pipe Replacement
.
- Remove the EGR valve adapter bolts (2,
3).
- Remove the EGR valve adapter/inlet pipe assembly (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the EGR valve adapter/inlet pipe
assembly (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the EGR valve adapter bolts (2, 3).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the EGR valve outlet pipe. Refer to
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Outlet Pipe Replacement
.
- If applicable install the secondary air injection (AIR) pump outlet
pipe. Refer to
Secondary Air Injection Pump Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement
.
- Install the EGR valve. Refer to
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Replacement
.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the EGR valve adapter pipe bolt (2)
to the exhaust manifold.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
