Removal Procedure
- Remove the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Remove the accelerator cable (5) from the accelerator pedal (1).
- Remove the accelerator pedal bolt (2) and the stud (3).
- Remove the accelerator pedal (1) from the cowl (4).
Installation Procedure
- Install the accelerator pedal (1) to the cowl (4).
- Install the accelerator pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).
- Install the accelerator cable (5) to the accelerator pedal (1).
- Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. The throttle should operate freely and without binding between full-closed and wide-open throttle. Inspect for proper carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
- Install the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt and the stud to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
