Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 385558  Size: SH
  4. Scribe the strut to the knuckle.

  5. Object Number: 803841  Size: SH
  6. Remove the bearing/hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 803925  Size: SH
  8. Remove the rear wheel spindle rods (8) from the knuckle (5). Refer to Spindle Rod Replacement .

  9. Object Number: 803927  Size: SH
  10. Remove the trailing arm (6) from the knuckle (8). Refer to Trailing Arm Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 803925  Size: SH
  12. Remove the rear strut to knuckle bolts (7) and the nuts (1). Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
  13. Remove the knuckle (5) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 803925  Size: SH
  1. Install the knuckle (5) to the vehicle.
  2. Hand start the strut to knuckle bolts and nuts. Do not tighten the nuts at this time.

  3. Object Number: 803927  Size: SH
  4. Connect the rear suspension trailing arm (6) to the knuckle (8). Refer to Trailing Arm Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 803925  Size: SH
  6. Connect the rear wheel spindle rods to the knuckle. Refer to Spindle Rod Replacement .
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the bearing/hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the strut to knuckle bolts (7) to 122 N·m (90 lb ft).

  10. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Inspect the rear wheel alignment, adjust if necessary. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alingment.
