    • J 42137 Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor Adapter

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the signal switch housing assembly (2) secure by using the 3 flat head screws (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).

  3. Install the inner race (4).
  4. Install the upper bearing inner race seat (3).
  5. Install the upper bearing spring (2).
  6. Lubricate the turn signal cancel cam assembly (1) with synthetic grease.
  7. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (1).

  8. Object Number: 324866  Size: SH
  9. Center the race and upper shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o'clock position (2).

  10. Object Number: 325109  Size: SH
  11. Install the shaft lock shield assembly (2).
  12. Important: The bearing retainer must be firmly seated in the groove on the race and upper shaft assembly (3).

  13. Install the bearing retainer (1) using J 42137 and J 42137 .
  14. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  15. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
