Tools Required

J 42971 Quick Connect Release Tool.

Important: Clean the release collar and the surrounding area before disconnecting the fitting.

Important: Always lubricate the tool end in engine oil before inserting the tool end into the coupling.




1. Lubricate and carefully insert the appropriate end of J 42971 behind the release collar.



2. Pull the hose assembly (1) out of the mating connector (3).
3. Inspect the male fitting (1), the female fitting (3), and the release collar (2) for the following conditions:

•

Nicks

•

Scratches

•	Flat spots

•	Damaged O-rings

•	Damaged release collar

4. If any of the above conditions exist replace the appropriate part.

1. Align the male fitting (1) with the female fitting (3).

Important: Verify the quick connections by trying to pull the hose assembly out of the fitting. Use a firm hand tug. Repeat the step if the connector is pulled apart. If the problem continues, replace the necessary components.

2. Push the fittings together until a definite snap and a solid stop are felt.
3. Add the proper amount of engine oil.
