Front Door Glass Snapping Noise When Raising (Replace Door Glass Run Channel)

Some customers may comment that the left or right front door glass makes a snapping noise when it is being raised.

The front door glass may catch the run channel at the top of the channel.

Replace the door glass run channel.

The revised design door glass run channel corrects the condition by guiding the door glass inward as it closes.

1. Fully lower the door glass.



2. Remove the two screws and the door pull cup. See illustration above.



3. Remove the one screw and the trim bezel from the door handle. See illustration above.
4. Remove the two screws that secure the door trim to the pull handle bracket.
5. Remove the front door trim panel using J 38778 in order to disengage the fasteners from the door.
6. Remove the electrical connector and the three nuts that secure the mirror to the door and remove the mirror.
7. Pull the front edge of the water deflector back to gain access to the two run channel bolts.
8. Remove the inner and outer belt seal.



9. Remove the two bolts that retain the run channel to the door and remove the run channel. See illustration above.
10. Install the run channel by sliding it down into the door and then into the upper door frame.

Tighten
Tighten the two run channel bolts to 10 N m (89 lb in).

11. Install the inner and outer belt seals.

Tighten
Tighten the outer belt sealing strip screw to 2 N m (18 lb in).

12. Install the water deflector.
13. Install the mirror with the three nuts and the electrical connector.

Tighten
Tighten the mirror nuts to 10 N m (89 lb in

14. Install the door trim using a new fastener, if necessary.
15. Install the two screws that retain the trim to the pull handle bracket.
16. Install the door handle bezel and screw.
17. Install the door pull cup and the two screws.
