Subject:Surveillance Inoperative -- Cannot Turn Auto Headlamps Off

Models:.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

Surveillance mode will not operate after BCM replace.

Recommendation/Instructions:

IMPORTANT: 'GM of Canada' dealers are not authorized to utilize this service information.

Impalas built from SOP until February with either of these RPO options (Police or Undercover Pkg which included Surveillance mode) had the Automatic Headlight Control (AHC) turned off. If a BCM is replaced for any reason, you will not be able to turn AHC off, thus loosing Surveillance mode capability. Until programming updates are available locate the surveillance mode pigtail taped to underside of IP and connect to a replacement headlamp switch assembly PN 10402975, making the headlamps totally manual.

At some point in the future BCMs may have the capability to program a BCM with surveillance mode making the headlamp switch replacement unnecessary.
