Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the automatic door lock mode in the Personalization data list.

Are the automatic door locks enabled?

Go to Step 3

Verify that the automatic door locks inoperative fault is present.

Does the automatic door locks system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Verify that the power door locks system operates normally.

Does the power door locks system operate normally?

Go to Step 5

Go to Symptoms - Doors

  1. With a scan tool, observe the Door Ajar Switches and the Driver Door Open Switch parameters in the body control module (BCM) data list.
  2. Close all the doors.

Does the scan tool indicate Closed for both parameters?

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the C1 harness connector of the inoperative door lock.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Inoperative Door Ajar Switches or Driver Door Open Switch parameter in the BCM data list.
  3. Close all the doors.

Does the scan tool indicate Closed for the inoperative parameter?

Go to Step 9

Test the driver door ajar switch signal circuit or door open switch signal circuit of the inoperative door lock for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connectors of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Repairs.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connectors of the inoperative door lock. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Repairs.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Replace the inoperative door lock. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Replacement or Rear Door Lock Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
