Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Verify that the key cylinder switches power door locks inoperative fault is present.

Does the key cylinder switches power door locks system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Does the power door locks system operate normally?

Go to Step 4

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Lock the driver door.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the key cylinder unlock parameter in the Body Control Module data list.
  5. Activate the driver door lock cylinder to the UNLOCK position.

Does the scan tool display Active?

Go to Step 5

  1. Lock the front passenger door.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the key cylinder unlock parameter in the Body Control Module data list.
  3. Activate the passenger door lock cylinder to the UNLOCK position.

Does the scan tool display Active?

Go to Step 9

  1. Disconnect the inoperative door lock cylinder switch.
  2. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the driver door key switch signal circuit of the door lock cylinder switch and the ground circuit of the door lock cylinder switch.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the key cylinder unlock parameter in the Body Control Module data list.

Does the scan tool display Active?

Test the driver door key switch signal circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the inoperative key cylinder unlock switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connectors of the body control module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connectors of the key cylinder unlock switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup and programming.
