Subject:ABS Lamp On and Current or History DTCs C1223, C1224, C1227, C1228, C1234, and/or C1235

Models:2004-2005 Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

ABS Lamp on and one or more rear wheel speed sensor DTCs C1223, C1224, C1227, C1228, C1234, and/or C1235. The DTCs may be current or history.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If the DTC is current or history follow the flow chart in SI Document ID # 1414226, to eliminate any other possible causes of the DTC, outside of the wheel speed sensor. Verify there is no water intrusion in the pass-through connector or in the jumper harness connectors. After the wiring and connectors have been eliminated replace the left rear wheel speed sensor if DTC C1223, C1227, or C1228 was set current or history and replace the right rear wheel speed sensor if DTC C1224, C1228, or C1235.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
