2006-2007 Pontiac Grand Prix
Equipped with the 5.3L RPO code LS4 V-8 engine.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

During diagnosis a dealer may notice the Bank 2 Long Term or Short Term Fuel Trim reading negative 100%. Dealer may also notice Bank 2 injector pulse at 0.00ms.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The 5.3 LS4 engine in an Impala, Monte Carlo, or Grand Prix only has two O2 sensors, HO2 sensor 1 and HO2 sensor 2. The Bank 1 Long Term and Bank 1 Short Term parameters represent the fuel correction for the entire engine.

The Tech 2 still displays parameters for Bank 2 Short Term Fuel Trim, Bank 2 Long Term Fuel Trim, and Bank 2 injector pulse. The negative 100% reading is a default reading the Tech 2 uses to fill in the Bank 2 Fuel Trim parameters.

The readings for the bank two fuel trims and bank two injector pulse should be disregarded. Complete the diagnostics for any trouble code or symptom that was found.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
