Low Beam Headlamp Inoperative (Replace Bulb and Inspect Socket)

Subject:Low Beam Headlamp Inoperative (Replace Bulb and Inspect Socket)

Models:2006-2007 Chevrolet Impala

Condition

Some customers may comment that the low beam headlamp is inoperative.

Correction

Replace the bulb and inspect the socket. If the socket is discolored or damaged, replace the socket following the procedure below.

  1. Remove the lamp assembly, then remove the bulb. Refer to Headlamp Bulb Replacement in SI.
  2. Inspect the socket.
  3. • If the socket is NOT discolored or damaged, then replace only the bulb with P/N 92095787.
    • If the socket is discolored at the bulb interface, then replace the socket and the bulb.

Important: Use only Duraseal splice sleeves. Other splice sleeves may not protect the splice from moisture or provide a good electrical connection.

         1. Cut the wires of the low beam headlamp socket approximately 45 mm (1¾ in) from the socket. Cut the replacement socket off of the supplied harness, P/N 25842432, allowing enough wire to splice into the vehicle harness. Splice in the replacement socket. Ensure that the splice is not above the socket when re-installing.
         2. Replace the bulb with P/N 92095787.
  4. Verify that the low beam headlamp is functional.
