Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement LZ4/LZE/LZ9

Component Name

Tip
During installation, be sure the position of the hose is midway between the engine crank pulley and the body structure. Hose contact to either component will result in hose damage.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement for the 3.5L engine or Drive Belt Replacement for the 3.9L engine.
  3. Raise and lower the vehicle as necessary to access the pipe fitting at the rack and pinion. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  4. Fill and bleed the power steering system after the repair has been completed. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering High Pressure Hose Bracket Bolt (part of hose assembly)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tighten
23 N·m (17 lb ft)

Power Steering High Pressure Hose Fitting (at pump)

Procedure

Remove the power steering pump to bracket bolts and raise the pump as necessary to access the pressure fitting. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement.

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)

Tip
Release the hose from the retainers to remove it from the vehicle.

Preliminary Procedures

  2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  3. Raise and lower the vehicle as necessary to access the power steering hose fitting at the rack and pinion. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Fill and bleed the power steering system after the repair has been completed. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Drive Belt Tensioner Bolt

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tip
Only remove the one tensioner bolt that retains the power steering pressure hose.

Tighten
50 N·m (37 lb ft)

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)
