Current Or History P0641 - keywords message mil ses power reduced

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Engine power is reduced message and check engine lamp on with DTC P0641. The concern may be intermittent. Other DTCs that may set are P0532, P0522, P0452, P0335, P0106, P0101 and P0068.

Three areas where wire chaffing can occur have been identified and confirmed.

The first area to inspect is where the wire harness is routed by the power steering pump. Verify that the harness has not rubbed on the power steering pump pulley.

The second area to inspect for chaffing is where the wire harness runs over the transmission under the air filter housing.

The third area to inspect is under the rear seat on the right side. If the harness is routed improperly, it could get pinched under the rear seat.

If any wire chaffing is found, repair the wiring per SI wire repair procedures. Make sure the wire harness is secure and properly routed to eliminate the chaffing condition.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
