This bulletin is being revised to apply to vehicles that have not yet been delivered to customers. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-51-006 (Section 08 -- Body and Accessories).
Engineering has noticed a significant increase in hood refinish claims appearing in the warranty system, particularly on new/low mileage vehicles prior to delivery.
GM engineering would like to understand what is driving the need
to refinish the hood of these vehicles.
If upon initial inspection of the vehicle PRIOR to delivery
, the vehicle requires the hood to be refinished, complete the following:
- Verify that the VIN and mileage are correct on the repair order.
- Make sure a detailed description of the "complaint" is recorded on the repair order.
- If possible, photograph the condition.
- Submit this information to Engineering -- attention Marty Case by one the methods below:
