Dirt Marks, Black Marks on Sunshade (Clean or Replace Sunroof Sunshade, if Necessary, Secure/Glue Dome Light Wire Harness to Headliner)

Some customers may comment that the sunshade is dirty or there are marks on the sunshade.

This condition may be caused by the dome wire harness in the headliner coming in contact with the sunroof sunshade. This wire harness is not secured/glued to the headliner as shown in the graphic above.

Technicians are to clean or replace (if necessary) the sunroof sunshade and glue the dome wire harness to the headliner in order to prevent future contact using the procedure below. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 06-00-89-029D for information on how and what to use to clean the fabric.

Important: If cleaning, use a soft bristle brush to avoid damage to the fabric.

1. Plug in the hot glue gun.
2. Disable the SIR System. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SI.
3. Remove the sunroof sunshade. Refer to Sunroof Sunshade Replacement in SI.
4. Remove the windshield pillar trim. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding in SI.
5. Remove the sunshade. Refer to Sunshade Replacement in SI.
6. Remove the sunshade anchors. Refer to Sunshade Anchors Replacement in SI.
7. Remove the upper center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel in SI.
8. Remove the assist handles, if equipped.
9. Remove the rear quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement in SI.
10. Remove the headliner trim retainers located at the rear end of the roof.
11. Lower the headliner enough to gain access to the dome light harness.



12. Glue the dome wire harness to the headliner as shown above.
13. Reinstall the headliner, all three upper trim panels, the assist handles, the sunshade, and the sunshade anchors.
14. Install the sunroof sunshade.
