Condition
Some customers may comment on premature wear on the inside edge of the rear tires.
Cause
The rear spindle rod bushings may be causing the rear wheel alignment to be out of specification.
Correction
Replace the four rear wheel spindle rods using the procedure below.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the rear tires and wheels.
- Remove the exhaust pipe/muffler assembly.
- Remove the wiring harness clips from the spindle arms and from the connector at body.
- Remove the rear wheel spindle rod bolts (4) and nuts from the knuckles (both sides).
- Remove the stabilizer shaft from the rear suspension support.
- Support the rear suspension support with jack stands and remove mounting bolts.
- Lower the rear suspension support in order to gain access to the rear wheel spindle rod to support bolts.
- Remove the four rear wheel spindle rod bolts (1) and nuts from the rear suspension support.
- Remove the rear wheel spindle rods from the vehicle.
- Install the new rear wheel spindle rods to the vehicle.
- Install the four rear wheel spindle rod bolts and nuts to the rear suspension support.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 135N·m(100 lb ft).
- Raise the rear suspension support into place.
- Install the rear suspension support mounting bolts and remove jack stands.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 110N·m(85 lb ft).
- Install the stabilizer shaft to the rear suspension support.
- Install the rear wheel spindle rod bolts and nuts to the knuckles (both sides).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 150N·m(110 lb ft).
- Install the wiring harness clips to the spindle arms and to the connector at body.
- Install the exhaust pipe/muffler assembly.
- Install the rear tires and wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjust the wheel toe angle.
