For 1990-2009 cars only
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler (TOC) outlet hose from top side of the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the TOC hose retainer bolt.
- Position a drain pan below the oil cooler hoses.
- Disconnect the TOC outlet hose from the transaxle. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
- Disconnect the TOC inlet hose from the transaxle. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
- Disconnect the TOC inlet hose from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
- Disconnect the TOC hoses from the radiator support retainer.
- Remove the TOC hoses from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the TOC hoses to the vehicle.
- Connect the TOC hoses to the radiator support retainer.
- Connect the TOC inlet hose to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
- Connect the TOC inlet hose to the transaxle. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
- Connect the TOC outlet hose to the transaxle. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
- Install the TOC hose retainer and the bolt.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the TOC outlet hose to the top side of the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection.
- Adjust the fluid level. Refer to the following procedures:
Caution: Allow sufficient clearance around the transaxle oil cooler pipes and around the hoses to prevent damage or wear which may cause fluid loss.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
Caution: Do NOT overfill the transaxle. The overfilling of the transaxle causes foaming, loss of fluid, shift complaints, and possible damage to the transaxle.
