Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the rear brake caliper mounting bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement.

Rotor Retention Screw

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
14 N·m (124 lb in)

Brake Rotor

Tip

    • If removing the rotor to service the brake system, mark the relationship of the rotor to the wheel stud for proper installation.
    • Using the J 41013 , clean the contact area of the brake rotor and the wheel bearing/hub if the rotor is to be reused.
    • Using the J 42450-A , remove the rust and dirt from the contact area of the wheel bearing/hub if replacing the rotor.
    • Inspect the assembled lateral runout (LRO). Refer to Brake Rotor Assembled Lateral Runout Correction.
    • Check park brake operation. Adjust only if needed. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
