The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some owners may comment that the SES Light is on. Upon inspection you may find DTC P1400 (Cold Start Emission Reduction Control System) stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
Recommendation/Instructions:
Please be advised that a Dealer Inventory Upgrade Bulletin is also being issued to address this condition. Before proceeding, using GMVIS, verify that the vehicle you are working on is included in the Dealer Inventory Upgrade Bulletin and that the vehicle build information shows the vehicle has the NU6 Emissions System.
Vehicles built with or before VIN: 2G1WT57NX91139051 should have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) reprogrammed with a new calibration using the TIS2WEB Service Programming System (SPS). As always, make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version.
Important: The part numbers for the new calibrations are 12630411 (engine) and 12630412 (engine diagnostic). Use TIS2WEB on or after 08/27/08 to obtain the calibrations. The description for both part numbers at this time is "New software for start of production".
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
