Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the lower radiator hose and drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  3. Loosen the upper radiator hose clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose (1).
  4. Loosen the surge tank hose clamp and disconnect the surge tank hose (2).

  6. Remove the electric cooling fan. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  7. Remove the radiator bolts (2).
  8. Remove the radiator support brackets (1).
  9. Remove the radiator (3).
  10. Important: The radiator still contains a substantial amount of coolant. Drain the remainder of the coolant from the radiator into a drain pan.

  11. Inspect the radiator for a break, clog, or other damage.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the radiator (2) with the mounting bolts and the support brackets (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the support bracket bolts to 3.5-4.5 N·m (31-40 lb in).

  3. Install the electric cooling fan. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 1223130  Size: SH
  5. Connect the upper radiator hose to the radiator (1).
  6. Connect the surge tank hose to the radiator (2).
  7. Secure each hose with hose clamps.
  8. Refill the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
