Tools Required

KM-507-C Ball Joint Remover

1. Unstake the caulking nut (1).
2. Remove the caulking nut (3).
3. Remove the washer (2).
4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .



5. Remove the cotter pin (1).
6. Remove the castellated nut (3).
7. Separate the tie rod end from the knuckle assembly using the KM-507-C  (2).



8. Remove the stud bolt (1).
9. Separate the control arm (2) from the knuckle assembly.
10. Remove the brake caliper from the knuckle assembly. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
11. Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor from the knuckle assembly, if equipped. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .



12. Remove the strut bracket nuts and bolts (1).
13. Separate the knuckle assembly from the drive shaft by pulling the steering knuckle assembly.
14. Remove the steering knuckle assembly from the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




1. Install the steering knuckle assembly and the strut bracket nuts and bolts (1) to the vehicle.

Tighten
Tighten the strut bracket nuts and bolts to 80 N·m (59 lb ft).

2. Install the ABS wheel speed sensor to the knuckle assembly. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .
3. Install the brake caliper to the knuckle assembly. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
4. Install the control arm to the knuckle assembly with the stud bolt (2).

Tighten
Tighten the stud bolt to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).




5. Install the tie rod end to the knuckle assembly.
6. Install the tie rod end-to-knuckle castellated nut (1).

Tighten
Tighten the castellated nut to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

7. Install the cotter pin to the castellated nut.
8. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
9. Install the washer.
10. Install the caulking nut (3).

Tighten
Tighten the caulking nut to 210 N·m (155 lb ft).

11. Stake the caulking nut flange (2).
