Removal Procedure
- If you are removing the strut from the passenger's side, complete the following steps:
1.2. | Remove the nut from the top of the strut assembly. |
- If you are removing the strut from the driver's side, complete the following steps:
2.1. | Remove the bolt from the fuse box. |
2.2. | Move the fuse box away from the strut. |
2.3. | Remove the nut from the top of the strut assembly. |
Notice: Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking Notice in the Preface section.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- If the vehicle has ABS, remove the ABS front speed sensor electrical wire (3) from the bracket.
- Disconnect the brake hose (1) from the bracket.
- Remove the strut bracket nuts.
- Remove the strut bracket washers, if equipped.
- Remove the strut bracket bolts (2).
- Remove the lower portion of the strut assembly from the knuckle.
- Remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the strut assembly to the vehicle with the strut assembly-to-strut bracket bolts (1).
- Install the strut bracket washers, if equipped.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the strut bracket nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the strut bracket nuts and bolts to 80 N·m (59 lb ft).
- Connect the brake hose to the bracket.
- If the vehicle has ABS, install the ABS front speed sensor electrical wire to the bracket.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the nut to the top of the strut assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
- If applicable, install the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to
Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement
.
- If applicable, install the fuse box and the bolt.
