Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Ensure the rear hatch is closed.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn the rear wiper switch to operate the rear wiper.

Does the rear wiper operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the rear wiper motor.
  3. Connect a test lamp between terminals 2 and 3 of the rear wiper motor harness connector.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Turn the wipers switch to operate the rear wiper.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Reconnect the rear wiper motor.
  3. Disconnect the wiper switch.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Probe the terminal 3 of the wiper switch harness connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Repair the open or short to ground in the wiper switch supply circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between terminals 1 and 3 of the wiper/washer switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the rear wiper operate?

Go to Step 8

Test the rear wiper control circuit of the wiper/washer switch for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Replace the wiper/washer switch.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 12

Test the ground circuit of the rear wiper motor for a short to voltage or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Replace the rear wiper motor.

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
