Clutch Frequent Adjustments C6500, C7500, C8500

Cause

Action

DEFINITION: The clutch requires constant adjustment.

Review the Symptoms - Clutch and perform the necessary inspections.

Release bearing locknut incorrectly tightened

Adjust the release bearing length according to the procedure, and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to Clutch Assembly Adjustment .

Insufficient gap at release yoke to release bearing

  1. Adjust the release bearing length per the procedure and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to Clutch Assembly Adjustment .
  2. Adjust the clutch linkage for the proper gap. Refer to Clutch Assembly Adjustment .

Excessive clutch slippage

Refer to Clutch Slipping .

Clutch wearing excessively

    • Review the vehicle application.
    • Review the driver practices.
