Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  2. Remove the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement .
  3. Remove the trim covers from the column. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  4. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  5. Disconnect the steering column electrical connectors.

  6. Remove the wire harness assembly (1) from the wire harness strap (2).
  7. Remove and dispose of the smaller wire harness straps.

    8. Object Number: 306234 Size: SH
  8. Slide the 2 connectors (2) of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly out of the bulkhead connector (1).

    9. Object Number: 306267 Size: SH
  9. Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).
    10. 9.1. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees.
    9.2. Pull the key alarm connector (1) out of the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).

  10. Remove the 2 tapping screws (2) from the ignition switch assembly (1).
  11. Remove the ignition switch assembly (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 306272 Size: SH
  1. Install the ignition switch assembly (1) onto the ignition lock cylinder case assembly.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Screw the 2 tapping screws (2) into the ignition switch assembly (1).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 tapping screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  3. Install the key alarm connector (1) into the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).
    4. 3.1. Push the key alarm connector (1) into the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).
    3.2. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees so that the key alarm connector (1) locks into place.

  4. Slide the 2 connectors (2) of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly into the bulkhead connector (1).
  5. Connect the steering column electrical connectors.

  6. Attach new wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly (1).
  7. Attach the wire harness assembly (1) to the wire harness strap (2).
  8. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  9. Install the trim covers to the column. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  10. Install the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement .
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
