Fuel System Bleeding Without CTF
Important: The injector must be replaced as an assembly. Do not separate the injector
parts. When the fuel system is open to the atmosphere, the system must be bled to
remove all of the air. Air in the fuel system will cause a no start or poor engine
performance.
- Loosen
the fuel feed line eye bolt (1) on the fuel filter.
- Hand prime (3) until only fuel comes out of the eye bolt (1).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Tighten the fuel filter eye bolt (1).
Tighten
Tighten the fuel filter eye bolt to 41 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Loosen the supply pump outlet pipe sleeve nut (2).
- Hand prime (3) until a solid stream of fuel comes out of the pipe
sleeve nut (2).
Tighten
Tighten the fuel filter eye bolt (2) to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).
- Loosen the #1 injection pipe sleeve nut (4).
- Hand pump (3) until a solid stream of fuel comes out of the sleeve
nut (4).
Repeat this on the remaining injector sleeves.
Tighten
Tighten the sleeve nut to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).
- If equipped with cruise control, turn the ignition ON, depress the cruise
set switch to open the injectors.
- Pump the primer pump up to 60 times.
