Circuit Description

The engine control module (ECM) reads analog data from the accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor and processes the analog data into digital data in order to interface with the powertrain software. If the ECM microprocessor can not perform this task then this DTC will set.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The ignition switch is in the crank or run position.
    • The ignition voltage is between 7-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • The ECM microprocessor can not process APP analog data into digital data.
    • All of the above conditions are present for less than 1 second.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The control module stores the DTC information into memory when the diagnostic runs and fails.
    • The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will not illuminate.
    • The driver information center, if equipped, may display a message.
    • The ECM defaults to 0 percent APP.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • A current DTC Last Test Failed clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
    • Clear the DTC with a scan tool.
