Heater Inlet Hose Replacement L18

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

1. Remove the right wheel house panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
2. Remove the air cleaner layer. Refer to Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls-8.1L.
3. Partially drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
4. Remove the inlet heater hose clamps using the J 38185 .



5. Remove the inlet heater hose.

1. Install the inlet heater hose.
2. Install the inlet heater hose clamps using the J 38185 .
3. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
4. Install the air cleaner layer. Refer to Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls-8.1L.
5. Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.

Heater Inlet Hose Replacement LG4

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

1. Remove the right and left wheel house panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
2. Remove the air cleaner layer. Refer to Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls-7.8L.
3. Partially drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
4. Remove the hose clamps using the J 38185 .



5. Remove the inlet heater hose (3) from the inlet pipe (2).
6. Remove the inlet heater hose from the retainer.
7. Remove the inlet heater hose.

1. Install the inlet heater hose.
2. Install the inlet heater hose into the retainer.



3. Install the inlet heater hose (3) to the inlet pipe (2).
4. Install the hose clamp using the J 38185 .
5. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
6. Install the air cleaner layer. Refer to Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls-7.8L.
7. Install the right and left wheel house panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.

Heater Inlet Hose Replacement LG5

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

1. Remove the right wheel house panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
2. Remove the air cleaner layer. Refer to Caterpillar® 3126 Unit Repair Manual.
3. Partially drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
4. Remove the inlet heater hose clamps using the J 38185 .



5. Remove the inlet heater hose (5) from the coolant outlet pipe.
6. Remove the inlet heater hose from the heater core outlet pipe.
7. Remove the inlet heater hose.

1. Install inlet heater hose.
2. Install the inlet heater hose to heater core outlet pipe.



3. Install the inlet heater hose (5) to the coolant outlet pipe.
4. Install the inlet heater hose clamps using the J 38185 .
5. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
6. Install the air cleaner layer. Refer to Caterpillar® 3126 Unit Repair Manual.
7. Install the right wheel house panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
