Engine Control Module Programming and Setup W/RPO LMM
The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.
ECM Replacement
If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:
- Capture the Option data.
Important: Clear any DTCs that may have set after completing the programming procedure.
- Enable ECM Reprogramming--Refer to
Service Programming System (SPS).
- Restore the Option data in the new ECM.
- Start and idle vehicle.
- Using the scan tool, perform the Turbocharger Learn Procedure. Refer to
Turbocharger Learn.
- Perform a DPF Regeneration Enable. Refer to
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration Enable.
- If necessary, perform the following:
• | Engine Oil Life Remaining--Use scan tool to reset Engine Oil Life. |
• | Fuel Filter Life--Use scan tool to reset Fuel Filter Life. |
ECM Reprogramming
Important: It is necessary to record Fuel Filter Life before reprogramming. The ECM reprogramming procedure will reset Fuel Filter Life to zero.
- Record Fuel Filter Life.
Important: Clear any DTCs that may have set after completing the programming procedure.
- Enable ECM Reprogramming--Refer to
Service Programming System (SPS).
- Reset Fuel Filter Life to the recorded value.
- Start and idle vehicle.
- Using the scan tool, perform the Turbocharger Learn Procedure. Refer to
Turbocharger Learn.
- Perform a DPF Regeneration Enable. Refer to
Exhaust Particulate Filter Cleaning.
- If necessary, perform the following:
• | Engine Oil Life Remaining--Use scan tool to reset Engine Oil Life. |
Setup for Component Replacement
The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.
If any of the following components are replaced, a Turbocharger Learn Procedure must be performed.
• | Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor |
• | Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid Valve |
