Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 880022 Size: SH
  1. Remove the following items from the cover:
    2. • The bolts
    • The washers
    • The nuts
    • The retainer

    Object Number: 880044 Size: SH
  2. Remove the cover bolts.

    3. Object Number: 880026 Size: SH
  3. Remove the cover.
  4. Remove the retainers and the battery or batteries. Refer to Battery Replacement.
  5. Reposition the battery cables.

    6. Note: Support the battery box from the bottom.

  6. Remove the following items from the battery box:
    7. • The 2 plates
    • The 4 bolts/screws
    • The 2 nuts
    • The 2 spacers
  7. Remove the battery box from the frame rail.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 876982 Size: SH
  1. Install the battery box to the frame rail with the following items:
    2. • The 2 plates
    • The 4 bolts/screws
    • The 2 nuts
    • The 2 spacers

    Tighten
    Tighten the battery box to the frame nuts to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  2. Install the battery or batteries to the box with the retainers and bolts. Refer to Battery Replacement.
  3. Reposition the battery cables.

    4. Object Number: 880026 Size: SH
  4. Install the cover.

    5. Object Number: 880044 Size: SH
  5. Install the retainer and the bolt.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
