Special Tools

1. Remove the universal joint. Refer to Universal Joint Replacement.



2. Remove the yoke nut or bolt and the washers. Use the J 3453 .



3. Remove the yoke using the J 7804-A .

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.





Note: 

•	Ensure that the splines are aligned and the yokes are in phase. Refer to Propeller Shaft Description and Operation.

•	Tap on the yoke in order to ensure that the yoke is completely seated against the propeller shaft.

1. Install the yoke nut (2) using the J 3453 .

Tighten

•	Tighten the series 1480 nut to 779 N·m (575 lb ft).

•	Tighten the series 1550 bolt to 216 N·m (160 lb ft).

•	Tighten the series 1610, 1710, 1710HD, or 1760 nut to 983 N·m (725 lb ft).




2. Install the yoke nut or bolt and washers with the 8 nuts mounting.
3. Install the universal joint. Refer to Universal Joint Replacement.
