- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Clean the area around the fill plug.
- If equipped with a Eaton® Fuller® FS series transmission, remove the oil fill plug (1).
- If equipped with a Eaton® Fuller® RT series transmission, remove the oil fill plug (2).
- If equipped with a Spicer® ES transmission, remove the oil fill plug.
- Using your index finger, inspect the oil level.
Note: When adding oil, types and brands of oil should not be mixed because of possible incompatibility.
- If oil level is low, add until correct.
- If equipped with a Eaton® Fuller® transmission, use Eaton® Roadranger® CD50 transmission fluid.
- If equipped with a Spicer® transmission, use Spicer® MIL-2104 D API-SF, or API-CD transmission fluid.
- Ensure that the oil is level with the fill plug opening.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the oil fill plug.
Tighten
If equipped with a Spicer® transmission tighten the oil fill plug to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- If equipped with a Eaton® Fuller® RT series transmission, install the oil fill plug (2).
Tighten
Tighten the oil fill plug to 82 N·m (60 lb ft).
- If equipped with a Eaton® Fuller® FS series transmission, install the oil fill plug (1).
Tighten
Tighten the oil fill plug to 82 N·m (60 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
