Tools Required

Important: Only remove the shift rail bearings if faulty.

1. Use the J 23907  (1) and J 36800  (2) in order to remove the front shift rail bearing from the clutch housing.



2. Use the J 36511 in order to remove the oil fill plug.



3. Remove the vent if necessary. The vent is pressed into the case and can be removed with a pair of pliers.



4. Inspect the input shaft bearing. Refer to Bearings and Spacers Cleaning and Inspection .
5. Remove the input shaft bearing if faulty.



6. Inspect the front countershaft bearing race. Refer to Bearings and Spacers Cleaning and Inspection .
7. Remove the front countershaft race if faulty.

•	Use a punch to bend in one side of the race.

•	Work the race out of the case.
