Info - Power Take-Off (PTO) Description of Operation and Programming Using Tech 2

This bulletin is being issued to provide dealers with additional information on the PTO operation and how to program the PTO parameters using the Tech 2®.

For PTO description and operation, refer to Power Take-Off (PTO) Description and Operation in the Power Take Off sub-section of the Service Manual (SI Document ID #826997). This describes the vehicle side of PTO operation and defines the programmable parameters and the factory settings along with diagnostics.

The factory-programmed settings are a generic set of parameters installed to allow the PTO system to operate. These parameters may or not be compatible with the PTO system installed by the body builder. The vehicle's controller was designed to allow the parameters to be customized to the requirements of the body builder installed system using the Tech 2®

Use the procedure listed below to reprogram the PTO parameters.

1. With the engine off and key on, install the Tech 2® to the vehicle and power on.
2. Build the vehicle from the menu.
3. Select "Special Functions" from the menu.
4. Select "PTO Options" from the menu.
5. Select "Change Options" using the soft key.
6. Choose one of the options based on the requirements of the PTO application. Refer to the specifications provided by the vocational equipment supplier to determine the correct settings.
7. Decrease or increase engine speed by 50 RPM increments using the soft keys until desired speed is reached.
8. Select "Reprogram" using the soft key.

Customizing the parameters to work with the upfit system is to be paid by the body builder. This is part of their upfit of the vehicle and is not to be charged to warranty.
