Removal Procedure
- Apply the parking brake.
- Block the wheels.
- Drain all of the air reservoirs. Refer to
Draining Reservoirs
in Air Brakes.
- Disconnect the inter-axle differential lock switch air lines. Refer to
Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon Push-In Type Fitting
in Air Brakes.
- Remove the inner axle differential lock switch retaining nut.
- Remove the inter-axle differential lock switch.
Installation Procedure
- Install the inter-axle differential lock switch.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the inner axle lock switch retaining nut.
Tighten
Tighten the inter-axle differential lock switch
to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Connect the inter-axle differential lock switch air lines. Refer to
Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon Push-In Type Fitting
in Air Brakes.
- Start the engine. Charge the system to the air compressor governor cut
out point.
- Stop the engine.
- Inspect for air leaks Refer to
Air Leakage Test
in Air Brakes.
- Remove the wheel blocks.
