Did you review the headlamps description and operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

  1. Place the headlamp switch in the HEADLAMP position.
  2. Place the headlamp dimmer switch in the HIGH position.

Do the high beam headlamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Place the headlamp dimmer switch in the LOW position.

Do the low beam headlamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Low and High Beams Headlamps Inoperative

  1. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the turn signal/multifunction switch.
  3. Connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between the headlamp switch signal circuit of the turn signal/multifunction switch and the headlamp high beam supply voltage circuit of the turn signal/multifunction switch.
  4. Place the headlamp switch in the HEADLAMP position.

Do both of the high beam headlamps illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the inoperative high beam headlamp.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the headlamp high beam supply voltage circuit of the inoperative high beam headlamp and ground circuit of the inoperative high beam headlamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Test the headlamp high beam supply voltage circuit of the inoperative high beam headlamp for a high resistance, a open or a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn signal/multifunction switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the inoperative headlamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair the open or high resistance in the inoperative high beam headlamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the turn signal/multifunction switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Replace the inoperative headlamp. Refer to Sealed Beam Headlamp Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
