THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND SUPERSEDES DEALER SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 90-90-5, DATED NOVEMBER 1989. THE 1989 MODEL YEAR REFERENCE WAS CORRECTED. DISCARD ALL COPIES OF 90-90-5.
Some 1990 W-cars may experience a squeaking type noise from the right rear of the vehicle. This condition may be caused by the right rear park brake cable moving through the grommet in the metal cable support bracket.
To eliminate this noise, first make sure the metal bracket is not distorted and the grommet is properly installed, and then lubricate the cable with a good high - low temp grease where it passes through the grommet (See illustration).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
