POWER WINDOW SWITCH RETENTION REPAIR PROCEDURE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990 CHEVROLET LUMINA

Owners of some early build Luminas may comment on the power window switch coming loose from the door trim pad. To eliminate this condition use the following procedure:

1. Remove switch assembly from trim pad. Visually inspect cut out area for mould flash etc. Remove excess material as required. (See Illustration)

2. From a piece of 1/8 inch thick foam rubber, cut a length approximately 3/4 X 1 inch. Fold foam in half and insert it between the lower locking tab and the switch housing. (See Illustration).

Use most applicable Labour operation and time from the Canadian Labour Time Guide.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
