SPEEDOMETER NOISE 1990 CHEVROLET LUMINA

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990 CHEVROLET LUMINA

Condition:

--------- The speedometer on the 1990 Lumina may make a high pitched noise, most noticeable on deceleration from 24 to 8 kph. (15 to 5 MPH).

Cause:

------ The magnets in the speedometer head cause this condition. The cluster was corrected in production beginning with the following VIN's:

L9102843 (Oshawa #1) L1100177 (Oshawa #2) Correction: ----------- 1. Remove instrument cluster following Service Manual instructions.

2. Send the cluster to the nearest repair center for correction. Remember to note the specific condition on the repair ticket.

3. Reinstall the cluster.
