REAR DOOR VENT GLASS RUBBER RETAINER TURNS WHITE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990 CHEVROLET AND OLDSMOBILE W-CAR SEDANS

Owners of some 1990 Chevrolet Lumina, Oldsmobile Cutlass W-car sedans may comment on a white powder type substance on the rubber seal of the rear door vent glass rubber retainer. To eliminate this bleed-out, clean the outside surface with Fantastic or equivalent cleaner and a small scrub brush. After rubber seal is completely dry and clean, dress rubber seal with a rubber/vinyl sealer, such as Armorall protectant.

Other sealers are Wesley Colour Magic, 3M Prep Team Natural Glass Vinyl/Rubber Dressing #05943.

Apply dressing following manufacturers instructions.

IMPORTANT: If a new rear door quarter glass rubber retainer is required, clean and seal new parts from CANSPO before installing on vehicle.

A new rear door quarter glass rubber retainer will be released in the near future and a new part number will be assigned.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
