New right and left front door trim pads have been released for Production and service which have improved retention at the upper front corner. The new trim pads are retained by a trim screw through that area into the door inner panel, which early Production used Christmas tree type fasteners.
Should it become necessary to replace a front door Christmas tree retained trim pad with a new screw retained pad use the following procedure.
1. With old trim removed, insert a nylon (plastic) nut, P/N #14013246 into the hole in the door inner panel previously used by Christmas tree retainer. (It may be necessary to slightly increase and square the hole. This can be accomplished with a small file).
2. Install the new trim pad aligning screw and newly installed nut.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
