OWNERS MANUAL CHANGE TRAILER TOWING CHANGE

SUBJECT: OWNER'S MANUAL CHANGE "TRAILER TOWING CHANGE FOR 3.4L LQ1 ENGINE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 CHEVROLET, PONTIAC AND OLDSMOBILE "W" CARS

This bulletin is being issued to inform dealer personnel of a change in Owner's Manual information that should be conveyed to customers as appropriate.

The early 1992 Chevrolet Lumina, Pontiac Grand Prix and Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Owner's Manuals stated that vehicles with the 3.4L LQ1 engine should not be used for trailer towing. This is not correct. This engine in these vehicles is approved to tow a trailer of up to 1000 pounds.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
