APPLICATION: 1993 "W" Coupes and Sedans
Some customers may comment about popping or creaking noises coming from behind or below the instrument panel on 1993 "W" coupes or sedans.
The anchor nut for the rear engine frame attachments may have rotated in the cage, contacting the sides of the retaining cage.
Reposition the nut, tighten and retorque the attaching bolt using the following procedure:
1 . Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Loosen the rear engine frame attaching bolt on the affected side of the vehicle.
3. Push upwards on the bolt and rotate approximately 60 degrees counter clockwise to eliminate the contact between the nut and wall of the retaining cage.
4. Finger tighten the bolt while applying downward pressure on the lower insulator retainer to prevent rotating the anchor nut.
5. Tighten the bolt and torque to 140 N.m (1 03 Lb.Ft.).
6. Remove vehicle from hoist and road test to ensure a satisfactory repair.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
