**REMOVE OR DISCONNECT** 1. REMOVE AND INSPECT CRANKSHAFT. REFER TO SECTION 6A9 IN APPLICABLE SERVICE MANUAL. 2. LUBRICATE ROD AND MAIN BEARINGS WITH CLEAN ENGINE OIL.
**INSTALL OR CONNECT** NOTICE: USE CARE WHEN INSTALLING CRANKSHAFT TO AVOID DAMAGING JOURNALS, BEARING INSERTS, OR CONNECTING RODS. 3. CRANKSHAFT. 4. MAIN BEARING CAPS AND STUDS/BOLTS. NOTE: FAILURE TO THRUST CRANKSHAFT PER PROCEDURE MAY CAUSE PREMATURE BEARING OR CRANKSHAFT WEAR. 5. WITH CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS AND BEARING CAPS INSTALLED AND STUDS/ BOLTS STARTED, THRUST CRANKSHAFT FORWARD TO SET AND ALIGN BEARING CAPS, THEN THRUST CRANKSHAFT REARWARD TO ALIGN FRONT FACE OF #3 THRUST MAIN BEARING. TIGHTEN: - MAIN BEARING STUDS/BOLTS TO 50 N.M (37 LB. FT.) + 75 DEGREES USING J36660. - CONNECTING ROD CAP NUTS EVENLY TO 20 N.M (15 LB. FT.) + 75 DEGREES USING J36660. 6. REFER TO SECTION 6A9 IN APPLICABLE SERVICE MANUAL FOR REASSEMBLY.
