Radiator Hose Replacement 3.1L

Removal Procedure

J 38185 Spring Hose Clamp Pliers

    Notice: When adding coolant, use DEX-COOL® coolant. If silicated coolant is added to the system, premature engine, heater core or radiator corrosion may result. In addition, the engine coolant will require change sooner-at 50 000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.

  1. Drain the coolant to a level below the hose being removed. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the engine crossbrace. Refer to Frame and Underbody.

  3. Object Number: 63507  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose (2) and the clamps, using the J 38185 , from the coolant outlet (1) and the radiator inlet (3). Remove the hose.

  5. Object Number: 70060  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose (3) and the clamps, using the J 38185 , from the engine (1) and the radiator outlet (2). Remove the hose.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 70060  Size: SH
  1. Install the radiator outlet hose (3). Connect the hose and the clamps to the radiator outlet (2) and the engine (1).

  2. Object Number: 63507  Size: SH
  3. Install the radiator inlet hose (2). Connect the hose and the clamps to the radiator inlet (3) and the coolant outlet (1).
  4. Install the engine crossbrace. Refer to Frame and Underbody.
  5. Refill the coolant. Bleed the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the coolant to a level below the hose being removed. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the engine crossbrace. Refer to Frame and Underbody.

  3. Object Number: 70062  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose (2) and the clamps, using the J 38185 , from the coolant outlet (1) and the radiator inlet (3). Remove the hose.

  5. Object Number: 70063  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose (3) and the clamps, using the J 38185 , from the engine (1) and the radiator outlet (2). Remove the hose.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 70063  Size: SH
  1. Install the radiator outlet hose (3). Connect the hose and the clamps to the radiator outlet (2) and the engine (1).

  2. Object Number: 70062  Size: SH
  3. Install the radiator inlet hose (2). Connect the hose and the clamps to the radiator inlet (3) and the coolant outlet (1).
  4. Install the engine crossbrace. Refer to Frame and Underbody.
  5. Refill the coolant. Bleed the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

Removal Procedure

  4. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose (2) and the clamps, using the J 38185 , from the coolant outlet (1) and the radiator inlet (3). Remove the hose.

  5. Object Number: 70050  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose (3) and the clamps, using the J 38185 , from the engine (1) and the radiator outlet (2). Remove the hose.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 70050  Size: SH
  1. Install the radiator outlet hose (3). Connect the hose and the clamps to the radiator outlet (2) and the engine (1).

  2. Object Number: 70267  Size: SH
  3. Install the radiator inlet hose (2). Connect the hose and the clamps to the radiator inlet (3) and the coolant outlet (1).
  4. Install the engine crossbrace. Refer to Frame and Underbody.
  5. Refill the coolant. Bleed the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
