Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the spark plug wire harness from the spark plug number five cylinder.

    2. Object Number: 54950 Size: SH
  2. Remove the bolt from the tube.
  3. Remove the oil level indicator and tube.

Installation Procedure
  1. Clean the tube.
  2. Apply sealant around the tube 12.7 mm (0.50 in) below the bead. Use GM sealant P/N 12345493 or the equivalent.

    3. Object Number: 54950 Size: SH
  3. Install the tube into the engine block.
  4. Install the bolt.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the oil level indicator.
  6. Connect the spark plug wire harness to the spark plug number five cylinder.
